terrible signal August 16, 2008 I would definetly NOT recommend this product because the signal speed is low. For me it averages 60-80% signal and i am not that far away from my router! I would recommend to get a PCI one instead.
signal dies during data transfer July 26, 2008 The signal for this and the base unit were strong, until I did a transfer test, then everything went to pot. I switched to netgear and am very impressed with netgear's performance.
OK only if you have a strong signal July 14, 2008 This device works well if you have a strong signal and little interference. I had to go to using a Netgear WPN111 to get a good connection all the time.
don't waste your money on this junk July 14, 2008 terrible product. frequently drops connection to the router several times a day. not stable at all. really annoying when i'm surfing the net or downloading files and it looses connection to the router.
linksys should be embarrassed to sell such a piece of junk. i thought for the longest time that i was loosing connection / droppping connection because of my linksys wcg200 gateway router only to find out that it is not a wcg200 problem at all but rather a flaky and unstable WUSB54G adapter. and there is absolutely no excuse for the dropping connections since i have no interfering wireless phones, or other wireless devices using the same band, and plus add to the adapter is only about 20 feet away. don't buy this product or you'll be sorry.
I wouldn't even think about selling this junk on ebay to anyone, instead I'm putting it where it belongs... in the trash! I'm switching to the Hawking HWU8DD wireless adapter.
Compact Unit that is Perfect for my needs June 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am not computer savvy and I found the Linksys WUSB54G Wireless-G USB adapter very easy to set up. And it connected immediately to my Linksys Wireless router. If I can get it to work, anyone should be able too. It is not as fast as being direct connected via wire, but it worked just great for me.
I have been very satisfied with it. I only notice the slower rate of transfer when I have a large download. But I usually use this computer just as a remote terminal and not my main computer. I find that it is fine for browsing, sending e-mails and updating websites. Note; this review does not address a situation where you may want to use it to play a graphic intensive online game. I have computers set up for gaming in another room connected to the main router.
