Linux users beware, probably Mac users too. November 3, 2008 I originally had the WUSB54Gv4 Linksys adapter on an XP desktop, which worked okay. Though there was a wall in the way, I wasn't very impressed that it only got a 30% signal from a router 8-9ft away. Then I got sick of windows and installed Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. It took me two weeks to get this thing working, and then when I almost had the driver installed, the computer crashed. Never had any problems with Ubuntu on my laptop, but this was a headache. You can probably find a better product for the same price, just keep looking.
Footnote: While trying to find drivers, I stumbled into several other owners with similar problems, and one posted a letter from Linksys in response to an inquiry about Linux support, and Linksys replied that this product was intended for Windows, no Linux or Mac.
Great little wireless adaptor November 2, 2008 I had purchsed a Linksys router and set up a wireless network in my house. However I had a PC on the far end of the house. I dreaded the idea of opening up the box to install a card. Its not something I like to do. A friend reocmmended the Linksys WUSB54G Wireless Adapter. It works great! No opening the box. No fussing with screws. Just follow the instructions on the CD and plug the device into a USB port. This will make it very convenient if I need to use it on another computer that doesn't have a wireless card.
campatable with windows vista October 27, 2008 I have a new computer with windows vista when i pluged the linkyes wireless adapter into the computer it cant detect what it is i down loaded the cd it came with and when its done down loading it wont open to set it up so im guessing it just wont work with windows vista im so frustrated i hate to have order another one or somthing differant ugh!
Second quality October 6, 2008 This product was shipped with a copy of the installation CD. It would not install properly. It was returned and I had to pay to return it.
Works great. September 24, 2008 I bought this wireless adapter to connect a pc in my office. Works great, and keeps connected all day. Originally i bought the compact linksys adapter but was disappointed with the signal strength. I think this model is better because it has an external antenna as apposed to the internal antenna on the compact model. I am very pleased with this purchase. I give it 5 stars.
